Christopher Columbus Sailed the Sea

Here’s a sweet and simple Columbus Day poem for kids — easy to read or recite in class!

In fourteen hundred ninety-two,
Columbus sailed the ocean blue.
He took three ships across the tide,
To find new lands on the other side.

The Nina, Pinta, Santa Maria too,
They carried sailors — brave and true.
They faced the storms, the waves so tall,
Believing they would find it all.

At last they saw the morning sun,
And cried, “Land! Our journey’s done!”
The people cheered, the bells did ring,
For they had found a wondrous thing.

Now every year in early fall,
We celebrate and learn it all —
Of courage, dreams, and sailing far,
To reach new lands beneath the stars.
