Sweetest Day – A Day to Be Kind
Sweetest Day is a special holiday that celebrates kindness, love, and friendship. It is celebrated in the United States on the third Saturday in October. On this day, people give sweets, cards, flowers, or small gifts to those they care about. It’s a time to show love not only to your partner, but also to friends, family, and people who may feel lonely.
The holiday began in 1921 in Cleveland, Ohio. A man named Herbert Birch Kingston wanted to do something nice for people who were poor, sick, or forgotten. He gave them candy to make them smile. Other people soon joined him, and the idea spread.
Today, Sweetest Day reminds us that even small acts of kindness can mean a lot. A simple smile, a kind word, or a piece of candy can make someone’s day brighter. Sweetest Day teaches us that love is sweet — and sharing it makes life even sweeter.
