Santa Left Me Nothing


Santa left me nothing
but this note upon my table:

I tried to fill your stockings,
but, alas, I wasn’t able.
I thought my beard would turn to ash.
I thought my nose would burst.
Next time you hang your stockings up,
make sure to wash them first.
