Groundhog Day is a popular North American tradition celebrated on February 2nd. The most famous groundhog is Punxsutawney Phil from Pennsylvania. Every year, people gather early in the morning to see if Phil will see his shadow. According to legend, if he sees it, winter will last six more weeks. If he doesn’t, spring will come early.
Although it’s not based on science, Groundhog Day has become a cheerful event that brings people together. It reminds us that winter will end soon and that warmer days are on their way.
