The Meaning of Earth Day

Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22 to remind people how important it is to care for our planet. It started in 1970 and has grown into a global event celebrated in more than 190 countries. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness about environmental problems such as air pollution, plastic waste, and deforestation.
On this day, people organize campaigns, plant trees, clean rivers, and promote eco-friendly habits. Schools and communities arrange programs to teach people how to live sustainably.
Earth Day teaches us that protecting the environment is not just one person’s job—it is everyone’s responsibility. If each of us takes small steps, like saving water and avoiding plastic, the planet will become a cleaner and healthier place to live.
