A man of peace, a man of light,
He rose against the darkest night.
With steady heart and gentle hands,
He changed the laws across the lands.

Through whispered threats and shouted rage,
He never chose the violent stage.
His voice became a guiding flame,
That history will forever name.

He taught us not to fight with fists,
But choose the path where love insists.
To face the hatred we may see
With calm and strength and dignity.

And on this day, we pause to say
His teachings still guide us today.
For Dr. King showed how to stand
For justice in a peaceful land.
