Why Juneteenth Matters in Today’s World
Although slavery ended long ago, the lessons of Juneteenth remain relevant. Inequality, discrimination, and injustice still exist in various forms. Juneteenth invites society to reflect on how far it has come—and how far it still needs to go.
Recognizing Juneteenth as a national holiday affirms the importance of acknowledging historical truth. It encourages meaningful conversations about justice, equality, and human rights. Juneteenth matters today because it reminds us that freedom must be actively defended and shared by all.
