Long ago, but not so far,
People dreamed of freedom’s star.
On Juneteenth, the news rang clear,
Freedom’s message all could hear.


Now we celebrate with cheer,
Learning why this day is dear.
Juneteenth teaches me and you,
Freedom is a right, not few.
