This Tired Old Heart

This tired old heart inclines toward

a welcome light that gently flows,

through corridors with heated floors,

and upwards to infinity.

So weathered by life's fickle storms

engorged with wonder and delight,

whilst clarity taints every season,

clings to love and melody.

A chronicle of tender thoughts,

a symphony of such finesse,

adorn each wall that all may see,

this heart has lived contentedly.

And should the light begin to flicker

dim before an end in sight.

This tired old heart will pay the price,

for green grass and humanity.
