When I was poor
And always sure
Of whom my friends
And creditors were

I'd hasten fleet
The debt to meet
Lest any think me
A deadbeat.

Now I am rich,
The fact of which
Those self-same friends
And creditors itch.

My creditors cry
But have not I
A favor done them
When I buy?

They need not fear
The funds are here
And they'll be paid
Sometime this year.
