Maternal Seasons

Maternal seasons come at last -
To each belong a year,
Though time cannot undo the past -
Time-washed by maternal tear.
Acknowledgment for what I owe -
Regret for the unperceived
Unlimitedly now I show -
Belated hope achieved.
The words I’ve thrown out to the wind
That time cannot retrieve,
The heartache borne and kept within
That time cannot undo,
I tread softly now on one so dear -
This time belongs to you.
