Romancing Spring During Winter...


Petals, soften the winter sod,
until the soil warms itself
by the morning rains of Spring
that break the caramel soil
of March's farewell freeze.

Comes the mist of eventide
mother natures pure elixir
for wounds accrued in battle
from Winter's caustic air;

Petals, pink petals, white
magnolia's hued opus,
emboldening the human gifts
of sight and scent,
pictorial and sweet.

Spring, Oh! Sweet welcoming change,
since March's Ides we've waited
for the coming of newborn nature
and the climax of Spring fever.
