A Modern-Contemporary Haiku
In fēowertīene Stanzaic Style
which means it is comprised
of fourteen(14) separate stan-
zas, but that together tell
a complete story. It's written
with the syllabic requirement
of Traditional style Haiku.

The Penny Was Tossed-

Fast And Hard, To An Echo,

But, No Splash Be Heard.



The Weather Was Cold,

Sickles Draped Around The Well,

Nature holds A coin?



Mother Nature Grins

As She opens Her Coin Purse,

Awaiting The Drop.



Where Is The Penny

Mother's Mother Once Warned Her-

Ther'd Be Day's Like This.



Suddenly, She Sees,

Stuck In The Iced Cold Brick Wall

The Frozen Penny.



And Now It Was Known -

Why The Penny Dealt No Splash;

What Do We Do Now?



Temperature Falling;

Need To Get To This Coin 'fore-

Mother Nature Does.



I Have An Idea!

Who Has Another Penny?

Let Me Have It Now!



Okay, Here It Goes;

My Efforts To Strike the Coin

That's Stuck In The Well.



Success Must Not Fail,

My Aim Must Be True As Grace

For Both Coins To Drop.



My Hand Feels Shaky,

A Quick Prayer and a long pause;

I Release The Coin.



Right On The Money,

The Second Coin Hits The First;

They Both Tumble South.



Mother Nature Blows-

Her Final Breath Of Frostbite,

One Second Too Late!



The Water Is Cold,

Yet My Ears Heard Two Splashes,

'TWO' Wishes On Route! !
