Cheetah Cubs

While cheetah cubs can look as cute
As little kittens do,
We know that we must stay astute
Beyond this point of view.
For cubs are on their learning curve
Through every passing day,
Thus more attention they deserve
As Nature has its way.

The cubs soon grow and learn to run
And change direction fast,
No longer playing in the sun
For such times never last.
They know how adult cheetahs stand,
Much taller than they are,
So elegant and somewhat grand
Like everyone's a star.

Young cheetah cubs have high hopes, too,
They sense their day must come,
Beyond the fact that others grew,
Not jealous, sad or glum.
When adults run, they lose no time
As they're fast on their feet,
As noble creatures in their prime,
Supreme and now complete.

Cheetah Cubs is the title of the magnificent
wildlife painting by UK artist Stephen Gayford.
