Heffernan Barter
Heffernan Barter walked through the woods,
listened to birds and the beetles with hoods.
Sunshine was with him and showed him the way
yet a mean shadow did cause him dismay.
Stood there dishevelled and filthy to boot
hand with syringes, ready to shoot.
Barter, annoyed now, sweep of his hand
wiped him away then, he'd understand.
Continued his journey, nodding to trees
free now from evil, loving the breeze.
